do as I’m doing

Read this article if you want to cry. But it’s a good cry, I promise. It’s about the Nielsons/NieNie Dialogues,

Listen to “The Piano Duet” and “Victor’s Piano Solo” from The Corpse Bride Soundtrack,

Listen to The Painted Veil Soundtrack, specifically Gnossiennes No. 1 – Lent,” but all are breathtakingly beautiful.

Think about how to serve others. Make gifts for others. Show love to others.

And when you get the magic out of your head, settle down for some homework (but at least it’s theatre homework, so there’s some magic in that).

Sunday, I love you.

October Cleaning Check

Dear Mom, This is what my room looks like when it’s clean. I told Roommate Nancy that if I don’t keep it clean this month, I’m buying her rice pudding.

Will I owe Roommate Nancy rice pudding? Stay tuned to find out!

a lovely weekend indeed!

Friday, 10/10/08, 8:40pm: Andrew knocks on the apartment door at exactly this moment. He looks quite handsome dressed up as he hands me a single red rose. Roommate Kim then acts as ‘mom’ and takes pictures of us before we leave for the homecoming dance.

Saturday, 10/11/08, 10:50am: Andrew and I pull into the parking lot for Sunflower Market (grocery store) and I realize that the little drops of rain have turned into snow!!!! After purchasing groceries, we head to Starbucks and order two kid’s size hazelnut hot chocolates. We stand in the falling (and melting) snow for a few minutes before getting back into the car. As I drive out of the parking lot, I call my mom in excitement to tell her of Utah’s first snow.

a reminder to be thankful

I try to write thank you notes for everything. I have a lot of reasons to be thankful because I am so, so blessed. But sometimes, like this very second, I feel in a bit of a slump. Therefore, this post is dedicated to things I am thankful for.

1. School: I’m so blessed to have a father who values education. I needed to come here. I really, really did.

2. Work: I have a great job with an amazing boss and fantastic coworkers. It’s the best job I’ve ever had!

3. Family: This should be first, but the giant lit “Y” on the mountain was in my head. It’s homecoming this week, you know. But family. My gosh, I have an amazing family! Large and diverse. I am you, and that makes me incredibly happy.

4. Snow: There is snow on the mountains from the storm last weekend. It’s melting from the sunshine, but boy, am I excited that autumn is here. It’s absolutely beautiful and makes the mile walk to campus worth it completely.

5. A Boy: I can’t tell you how much I adore a certain boy, and I’m so blessed that he adores me, too!

6. Voice: I had no voice and thus had to whisper from Friday night until Monday morning. It’s almost completely back now! Take that, stuffy nose!

I’m trying very hard not to mention that 1) I haven’t made it to yoga this week because of being sick, 2) my house is not my home, and 3) I had to say goodnight to the boy.

But really, I am very blessed. I’m going to roll out of bed in the morning, perhaps do some yoga to make up for the lazy week, and go to the mall and find something lovely [and inexpensive] to wear for a special date this weekend. Blessed? Very.

What are you thankful for?

motivation to tidy up.

Because my mom asked what my room looked like, and I forgot to take a picture after cleaning checks last week…

I bet you’re regretting your request now mom.

Spiritual thought: D&C 24:8, Be patient in afflictions, for thou shalt have many; but endure them, for, lo, I am with thee, even unto the end of thy days.

And this weekend is general conference! And it’s supposed to rain! I’m very excited!
